What is bowen therapy?

Bowen Therapy is a gentle, natural and non-invasive complementary therapy that uses a series of moves interspersed with periods of rest to realign the body structurally, hormonally and lymphatically.

Bowen is performed through light clothing in a relaxed and calm atmosphere.

Using only fingers and thumbs, a Bowen therapist makes gentle rolling movements over muscles, tendons and fascia at precise points. This process releases energy into the muscles and soft tissue, sending impulses to the brain to trigger the body’s own healing systems. During the treatment the therapist will leave the room for short periods of time to allow the body to respond to the moves already performed and make subtle adjustments to initiate the healing process.

What can bowen therapy treat?

Bowen Therapy benefits anyone and everyone suffering from pain, discomfort or physical restrictions from babies to the very elderly.

It has been found to be particularly effective for people suffering from sports injuries and pregnant women, as well as individuals on the autistic spectrum or with cerebral palsy

Bowen Therapy is always aimed at treating the whole body. As the body adjusts and re-balances, the effects can act on many of the body’s systems and not just the muscles. This is why positive results can be seen with seemingly unrelated conditions such as IBS, chronic fatigue and asthma.
